Rick and Julie Alvis Conference Center

Rick and Julie

The Evansville Rescue Mission (ERM) rededicated and renamed its Camp Reveal Conference Center on May 13 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Alvis.  Rick Alvis served on staff at the Evansville Rescue Mission from 1978 to1990 of which the latter ten years he served as the ERM’S President/Chief Executive Officer.   Camp Reveal’s Conference Center is now renamed and rededicated to be the Rick and Julie Alvis Conference Center.

During Rick’s tenure as Executive Director of the ERM, the Rescue Mission grew in prominence here in the Tri-State where ERM programming, operations, funding and community relations substantially grew.  Moreover, Rick Alvis founded the Youth Care Center (YCC), the Evansville Rescue Mission’s owned and operated juvenile detention center for boys and girls, in 1982, and the YCC has been an integral part of our mission ever since due to Rick’s vision.

Rick and Julie moved to Indianapolis in 1990 where he has served as Wheeler Mission Ministries’ President and Chief Executive Officer ever since.  In 1992, he was listed in “Who’s Who Among Rising Young Americans.” Rick has also served the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions in several capacities, including Board Secretary/Treasurer, Board Vice President, and as Board President from 2003–2009. Besides being an ordained Christian Union minister, Rick currently serves on the national Board of Directors of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

The Evansville Rescue Mission would love to have you visit our campground/retreat center to see the Rick and Julie Alvis Conference Center, along with Camp Reveal’s other renovated facilities.  For rental inquiries or for more information on Camp Reveal, please contact Shawna Bittner at either 812.204.3911 or at shawna.bittner@ermstaff.org.
